LOOKING BACK AT 2022

As 2022 draws to a close, the team here at Premier Event Tent Rentals has been reflecting back on a successful (if stressful!!) year in the event industry. It was busy – but it was revitalizing, re-energizing and rewarding. We are very grateful to all of our customers, who trusted us to create memorable event venues for them. We did our best to meet or exceed their expectations. We take a lot of pride in offering the best possible tenting and flooring solutions for events of all sizes – in all seasons of the year. So please walk through the past 12 months with us as we review the 2022 journey – and please give us a call for your next event.

JANUARY

With COVID 19 restrictions still upon us early in 2022, Premier had the pleasure of working with many of the GTA’s premier restaurants. With capacity limits indoors, we collaborated with managers and owners to create luxury outdoor spaces, which proved essential for the survival of many of these eating establishments.

FEBRUARY

During a cold February, Premier showcased our ability to support the film industry in Toronto. Working with networks like The CW, CBS, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Apple TV and NBC, we provided warm, climate-controlled spaces for their crews at numerous remote locations in southern Ontario.

MARCH

On March 13th, 2022 the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL Heritage Classic at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, Ontario. In the frigid conditions Premier was able to support Sportsnet’s broadcast team with great protection from the cold. We were very grateful for the opportunity to work with Sportsnet and the NHL on another successful event.

APRIL

As the weather began to turn and the first signs of spring were upon us, Premier was able to get a jumpstart on our set-up at the RBC Canadian Open at St. Georges Golf and Country Club. Our golf team spent April getting a head start on all the work needed to host a prestigious PGA Tour event with nearly 150, 000 guests attending over four days. This high level of organization and efficiency laid the ground work for a successful event once June came around!

MAY

As the warm weather arrived in May, we saw the official beginning of the 2022 event season. With cooler temperatures still a possibility, Premier created many sheltered spaces. From backyard weddings projects, to our beautiful set-up at Upper Canada College, we answered the call for our numerous clients by creating outstanding temporary venues for events large and small.

JUNE

After a 2 year hiatus, the RBC Canadian Open PGA tournament was held at St. George’s Golf and Country Club in early June. Almost 150,000 fans attended over the four tournament days, with those in attendance on Sunday witnessing the World #1 Ranked Golfer, Rory McIlroy, repeat as Canadian Open Champion. June is also peak wedding season, and we worked hard to create magical event spaces for numerous weddings during the month. These weddings allowed us to showcase some of our custom tent configurations including our all-black Monaco Series structure shown below. While June was one our busiest months of the year, we are extremely proud of the quality of the products and service we contributed to so many events.

JULY

The busy season continued into July, when we were able to contribute to many more spectacular events including the Honda Indy. The over 800 linear feet of elevated skybox covers sheltered race fans along the start-finish straightaway of this prestigious Indycar event. We also successfully tented dozens of weddings – from barges in Muskoka to intimate ceremonies in Toronto backyards to custom-built event spaces over swimming pools – we used our ingenuity and flexibility to custom-tailor each solution specifically to our client’s needs.

AUGUST

During August, in addition to our ongoing work creating spectacular tented wedding venues (some of which are pictured below), we witnessed the return of two more of Canada’s world-class professional golf tournaments. We travelled to Ottawa for the CP Women’s Open LPGA tournament, held at the Ottawa Hunt & Golf Club. For this event we provided more than 60,000 square feet of flooring, decking and tenting for corporate hospitality spaces, spectator viewing platforms, concession stands and tournament service areas. A total of 118 separate tents were installed and removed for this prestigious tournament. In addition, we were out in Calgary for the Shaw Charity Classic, one of the premier tournaments on the PGA Champions Tour, held at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club. While in Calgary, we also provided elevated platforms and tenting at the Century Downs Racetrack for chuckwagon racing.

SEPTEMBER

The wedding market saw unprecedented demand in 2022 – as three years of postponed and rescheduled events all tried to elbow their way into the 12-16 decent-weather weekends in our Canadian summer. As a result, many large scale weddings ended up taking place during September, and we had the privilege of building spectacular temporary venues for many of them. The photos below are just a sampling of the magical event spaces we helped create.

OCTOBER

With the onset of fall weather in October, overall demand in the tent rental marketplace finally began to settle down – and, to be honest, it was nice to be able to catch our breath a little! We were, however, still involved in a good number of autumn weddings and fall festivals.  Corporate events also had a bit of a resurgence as companies tried to re-engage with their staff and their clients after so many months and years of pandemic lockdowns.

NOVEMBER

On November 20th, 2022 at Mosaic stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan the 109th Grey Cup took place between the Toronto Argonauts and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Using our in-house fabrication capability, we custom-crafted two large tent structures to cover the TSN production trailers, providing a climate-controlled work environment for their production team as they sent out a top-quality television feed of the game to the record audience tuned in across Canada.

DECEMBER

As the year draws to a close, the entire Premier team reflects back on a very busy, very demanding, but very rewarding 2022. We took advantage of the reduced workload to hold a staff appreciation day for our valued team members at the K1 Go Kart race track. The racing competition on the Go Kart track was fierce but good natured (mostly) with our entire team enjoying the time together, and savouring the satisfaction of contributing to a very successful tent rental season. We definitely could never do the work we do, or be the company we are, without our top-notch team.

Looking Ahead

Premier continues to invest in our equipment, our people, and our products as we look forward to 2023. We anticipate our first installation of a 2-storey tent, continued involvement in world-class sporting events, and the provision of beautiful tents for hundreds of weddings and social events. We relish the opportunity to bring your vision to life and encourage you to reach out as soon as possible so we can begin planning for your next event.
