2023: A Year in Review

By December 1, 2023March 14th, 2024Articles,

As we near the end of 2023, the Premier Event Tent Rentals team takes great pride in our success this year in the event industry. While very busy and often stressful, it was gratifying to work with our customers to provide the best tenting and flooring solutions for experiences of all sizes. We are incredibly grateful to all who trusted us as a supplier, as we always do our best to exceed all expectations.

Please walk through the last 12 months with us, explore the diverse portfolio of the work we were able to put together and give us a call for your next event!

JANUARY

Premier had the pleasure of working with many different clients for winter tenting. January was headlined by a beautiful set-up at the Aga Khan Museum for a BMW product launch party. Our Legacy Structure with glass walls and double glass doors was climate-controlled perfectly to combat the winter weather, creating a beautiful venue.

FEBRUARY

Premier hosted an employee appreciation skate day for the team and their families!

A delightful morning of skating and an organized hockey game was the perfect bonding experience and a re-energizing way to have some fun before the start of yet another busy event season.

MARCH

Premier had the opportunity to provide our services to a few disaster relief projects. A warehouse fire in Brampton created an urgent need for temporary spaces for clean-up crews. The Premier team stepped up to the occasion and provided over 25,000 square feet of temporary tenting and flooring solutions within days of initial contact.

APRIL

With the warmer weather finally upon us, Premier got off to an excellent start for our set-up at the 2023 RBC Canadian Open hosted by Golf Canada at the Oakdale Golf & Country Club. Our dedicated golf team worked extremely hard to complete all the work required to host this prestigious PGA tour event, with over 120,000 guests attending this week-long event.

One of our significant milestones this month was the first-ever set-up of our new double-decker structure. The installation of this structure posed a fresh challenge, yet it was embraced with enthusiasm, given the spectacular outcome.

MAY

May was the start of many outdoor social events, and Premier was here to provide the perfect temporary spaces for entertaining.
We demonstrated our specialized knowledge in building this beautiful, raised beam deck over a swimming pool, enclosing the space with glass railing, and creating the ideal venue for a backyard social event.
We travelled north of the city to a resort town to assist with this breathtaking waterfront set-up. Our clear Legacy Structure offered the perfect space for a cocktail hour by the water.

JUNE

In June, we saw the culmination of a lot of hard work come to fruition.  After many months of creating SketchUp renderings, site visits, laser level measuring, and building, the 2023 RBC Canadian Open finally opened its doors to the public for its week-long tournament. Our team put up 281 tents, laid out 152,000 square feet of carpet, installed 8,830 linear feet of white aluminum railing, and built 97,500 square feet of elevated deck flooring, totalling 165,000 square feet of total usable event space constructed.

Besides the major golf tournament, this month also kicked off wedding season; our road crew’s schedules were jam-packed, creating dream spaces for many future couples throughout the month. Our final milestone of the month was launching our newest and largest tent; the 25M Monaco XL Structure, for an event at Cosmo Music in Richmond Hill.

JULY

In July, we partnered with the GT20 Canada Cricket Tournament to create a temporary world-class cricket venue in Brampton. This tournament showcased some of the best Canadian talent in the sport and some of the world’s foremost cricket stars. We set up dozens of tents, thousands of square feet of flooring and hundreds of meters of railings and walkways while also providing quality event furnishings for VIP suites, team pavilions and corporate hospitality areas. In addition to this large-scale cricket event, we provided over 600 linear feet of corporate hospitality skybox covers for the Honda Indy in downtown Toronto. We were also involved in numerous weddings and summer social events ranging from large-scale Niagara Vineyard weddings to custom backyard event spaces in the GTA.

AUGUST

August was our busiest month! On top of our high quality wedding set-ups around the GTA, our crews packed their bags and headed west to assist in several significant sporting events. Our golf team headed to the Shaughnessy Golf & Country Club, a beautiful ocean-side course in Vancouver, for the 2023 CPKC Women’s Open, a tournament that won the LPGA Tournament of the Year award for the second year in a row! While juggling the complexity of our Vancouver set-up, another Premier team was simultaneously setting up for the Shaw Charity Classic at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club in Calgary. Lastly, in Calgary, we also provided our services to the World Professional Chuckwagon Association for their 2023 World Finals at the Century Downs Racetrack.

SEPTEMBER

There were no signs of slowing down in September, with the summer wedding season coming to an end! The beautiful September weather provided the perfect setting for our clear top structures. Another exciting new event for Premier was the 2023 International Plowing Match & Rural Expo hosted by the Ontario Plowmen’s Association in Bowling Green, Ontario. Our team worked hard, building 52 tents to create the perfect tented city for this five-day event, which attracted over 80,000 guests from all over North America. We were also involved in the 2023 Drive Festival, which took place at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario. The festival is Canada’s ultimate outdoor automotive enthusiast event, and our team proudly put up a massive 40′ by 220′ Legacy Structure, which served as a showcase for all those unique and wildly expensive cars.

OCTOBER

The many colours of Fall make for a beautiful wedding backdrop, and once again, our clear-top tents were 5-star for many couples celebrating their weddings. To finish off October, our team enjoyed working with Sportsnet and the National Hockey League for the 2023 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic hosted at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta. The game took place on October 29th, where, in the cold temperatures, Premier could support Sportsnet’s broadcasting team with protection from the elements.

NOVEMBER

With the 110th CFL Grey Cup hosted at the Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton, November kept the ball rolling with our involvement in sporting events. The broadcasting teams at TSN and RDS needed climate-controlled environments for their production crews and on- camera talent. We stepped up and provided many structures, including 13 corporate suites, a green room for half-time performers, and a massive 50′ by 135′ structure on 13′ side legs for TSN, giving them a home base. With minimal snow on the ground, we also jumped on the opportunity to start the 2024 RBC Canadian Open build at the Hamilton Golf and Country Club; our team hit the ground running, building elevated decks and floors to ease some of the pressure in the Spring.

DECEMBER

As the year drew to a close and the cold temperatures started to set in, we used the reduced time on sites to hold a staff appreciation event. The Premier team headed to BATL Axe for a day of fun, good-spirited competition. It was delightful to have our valued team members together to show them how appreciated their hard work was throughout 2023. Activities like this make all the hard work and long hours throughout the year worth it.

Wrap Up

As 2023 winds to a close, we here at Premier are proud to reflect on another successful season. Our ongoing investments in equipment, quality products, and, most importantly, outstanding people continue to pay great dividends. We continue to build on our track record of unparalleled commitment to customer satisfaction as one of Canada’s few remaining large-scale owner-operated tent rental firms.

Looking ahead to 2024, we are very excited to continue this journey with you! We promise to provide the very best to all our customers, irrespective of the size of their event. The 2024 RBC Canadian Open PGA golf tournament will be hosted at the Hamilton Golf & Country Club in late May, and we are already well underway with the build – it will be even bigger and better than the world-class setup at Oakdale Golf and Country Club in 2023. The CPKC Women’s Open LPGA tournament will be held in July at the Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary, and we eagerly anticipate building a top-notch tournament setup there starting in mid-June. We will also work on wedding setups in Muskoka, Niagara, Prince Edward County and throughout the GTA.

We always welcome the opportunity to work with new clients. Contact us today, and let us help bring your vision to life by providing innovative solutions to meet your temporary flooring and tenting requirements for your upcoming events.
