BEHIND THE BUILD: The Making Of Seamless Celebrations-Even Off the Grid

Waterfront weddings are beautiful—but a wedding built on the lake is extraordinary. Our barge wedding installations redefine what’s possible, creating floating venues that feel as polished and intentional as any luxury ballroom. With subfloors, clear-span structures, and custom accessories, we bring elevated elegance to the water, giving couples an unforgettable setting that quite literally rises above the ordinary.

Let’s walk down memory lane for one of our incredible lakeside wedding projects we were a part of in 2025.

When we were first approached by the planner about a lakeside cottage wedding, it was immediately clear this would be a highly custom build. The property had no direct road access, only a narrow path, meaning every piece of equipment and material had to be transported by barge across the lake. With limited flat areas on-site, we designed a multi-structure layout that could work with the natural landscape while still accommodating the full event scope. This included building a large custom deck to create a stable foundation for the main reception tent, along with additional structures for service areas and late-night celebrations.

Barging became the backbone of the operation. All materials were loaded at the mainland and ferried to the site in phases, then carefully offloaded and staged for installation. To keep the build efficient despite the remote setting, specialized equipment was also brought over by barge to help move materials across the property.

Installation took place over several days, starting with foundational elements like decking and platforms, followed by tent installations and final finishes. Some structures were even designed to sit directly on barges, extending the usable event space onto the water. Throughout the build, careful consideration was given to the property itself, using a mix of weighted ballasts and selective staking to work around underground systems and existing surfaces.

By the time the event day arrived, and with other vendors on-site, the transformation was complete: a fully functional, large-scale wedding venue set against a private lakeside backdrop. After the celebration, the entire site was dismantled in reverse—materials packed, loaded back onto barges, and returned to the mainland.

From start to finish, the project was a seamless blend of planning, adaptability, and creative problem-solving, turning a remote cottage property into a one-of-a-kind waterfront wedding experience. It was a true reflection of our team’s commitment to delivering exceptional events, no matter the location or logistical challenge.
